Integration Processes of Turkic States on the Modern ‘Silk Road’: Challenges and Perspectives

The international conference will be implemented as a three-stage joint project covering the years 2025–2026. The stages are as follows:

  1. Baku, Azerbaijan – November 19–20, 2025
    “Socio-Cultural Integration Processes of Turkic States Along the Modern Silk Road: Challenges and Prospects”
  2. Turkey – May 2026
    “Political and Economic Integration Processes of Turkic States on the Modern ‘Silk Road’: Challenges and Perspectives”
  3. Kokand, Uzbekistan – October 2026
    “Socio-Economic Integration Processes of Turkic States on the Modern ‘Silk Road’: Challenges and Perspectives”

  1. RELEVANCE OF THE JOINT PROJECT

New opportunities have emerged regarding the future development and expansion of relations across Eurasia. Since the establishment of the Organization of Turkic States, the socio-cultural, economic, and political integration of the Turkic countries and the prospects for their development have brought forth a number of new challenges and the necessity to address emerging issues. The relevance and necessity of resolving these issues can be explained by the following factors:

  • In recent decades, the Turkic states have demonstrated notable progress in their mutual relations at various levels, including economic, cultural, and political fields. The further development of this process strengthens their future and enhances their role in international politics. Consequently, this necessitates deepening joint activities, cooperation in international cultural relations, and the coordination of political and economic efforts among Turkic states.
  • The Turkic countries face the necessity of strengthening their positions in the international arena. Comprehensive integration among them provides a foundation for successful development and greater global influence.
  • There are still a number of issues to be resolved among the Turkic states. Political, economic, and socio-cultural problems hindering successful cooperation should be studied and analyzed, and eliminated through the joint efforts of these countries. Developing solutions to these problems is of great importance not only for ensuring mutual understanding and stability within the region but also internationally.
  • Mutual cultural activity within Turkic states contributes to the establishment of new trade and economic routes, the improvement of the investment environment, and the creation of joint projects. This represents a significant step toward achieving sustainable economic growth in these countries.
  • An important component of integration is the exchange of cultural values, the support of traditions, language, and national identity. Strengthening interstate relations in this way contributes to the international development of cultural diversity and deepening of Turkic identity.

    Thus, the proposed project examines the key aspects of integration among Turkic states and, by proposing possible solutions to existing issues, creates a foundation for these states to gain a new international status.
  1. PURPOSE OF THE JOINT PROJECT
  • To strengthen academic cooperation among universities of the Turkic states;
  • To identify the main challenges and prospects of integration in social, cultural, political, and economic spheres;
  • To create a platform for the exchange of ideas, research, and proposals among scholars;
  • To develop a resource that can be used for formulating strategies and policies within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States;
  • To organize the collection of scientific papers written by researchers from universities of Turkic states;
  • To conduct expert selection and peer review of submitted articles;
  • To publish the collected materials in both print and electronic formats;
  • To promote the project results through presentations, conferences, and online platforms.
